A lot has changed and one thing remains the same . . .
Some say: Nothing is constant But change.
Someone described the July 2019 election results as the dawning a new day. I see It as the dawning of a whole new ERA!
Many changes have converged in Concordia in the summer of 2019. Jack Cremin, our long-time property manager retired in August and Brian Aubrey came on board. Brian seems, so far, to be far more open and receptive. He walks around the clubhouse and the grounds making himself accessible. He has also initiated Manager’s Corner on the community website and his email is right there. Also, according to the community website, Donna Marie no longer works here. Janice is now Activities Director. That’s a lot of change in management.
The BOT election has resulted in breathing new life into this community and demonstrates a turning point in terms of voter turnout which had been very low for a decade or more. The fact that the two incumbents running were not re-elected, reflects the growing tensions at open BOT meetings. In addition, Bill Lefko who has served on the board for decades and has held the position of President of the Board (off and on) for many of those years, has resigned. The new President is Roz Brodsky.
Despite rumors intended to instill fear of the new candidates, rest assured that no nursing services will be cut or reduced! Paul and Sherry promised to keep all that is good here and work to create more unification by engaging residents, hearing their concerns and suggestions, finding answers to their questions – all with respect. They would like to add town hall meetings and add more ad hoc committees.
More positive changes:
- Open BOT meetings will be held 6 times a year and taped for WCOC in their entirety, including Q & A. We may also have TownHall meetings.
- Monsanto's toxic RoundUp will no longer be used thanks to the efforts of OurConcordia's Nancy Redwood.
- A new webpage is coming and much more will be accessible electronically.
- JCP&L is ripping up areas of outages to hopefully give us a fix.
- Solar panels will be investigated by a new AdHoc committee.
- Family members and regular visitors can get a bar code for their car.
